We have many beautiful stories to tell about how Interchange Western touches hearts and changes lives.
MoreInterchange Western has now merged with Gateways Support Services
Interchange Western has now merged with Gateways Support Services. The merger came into effect on October 1. Interchange Western will become known as Gateways Support Services and will retain the Interchange name for its long running host program. The merged organisation will create a stronger organisation to provide more opportunities for people with a disability and their families.
Under the new structure, current Gateways CEO Rosemary Malone will be the CEO and Chris Wright will take on the role of Gateways Area Manager for Western Melbourne. Importantly all staff have been employed by Gateways which is exciting and underlines the commitment we all have to participants and families living in across the Western region. “There will be no changes in service delivery and supports throughout this process and we’ll be working closely with Interchange Western board members, staff, volunteers and clients to ensure the best possible outcomes and a smooth transition,” Mrs Malone added.
“Gateways have been part of the NDIS in the Barwon region for almost four years and as a merged entity we look forward to sharing this experience and knowledge to support Interchange Western staff and families new to the NDIS.” Gateways Support Services CEO Rosemary Malone said. The merger is expected to provide a range of new programs, particularly as NDIS begins to transition across Melbourne.
For participants and families the merger will only see minimal changes in their relationship with Interchange Western. Over time the organisation will utilise Gateways branding and its expected as NDIS arrives, participants and families will benefit from Gateways NDIS experience. If you have any questions about the merger please get in touch.
History of Interchange Western
1985 - 2016
As the demand for Interchange's services grew, several organisations emerged that serviced different parts of the state. By 1990 there were ten Interchange offices throughout Victoria, one of these was Interchange Western. Over the years, many Interchange offices have closed their doors or changed their name, however we continue to grow and are now one of the leading disability service providers in Victoria.
2017 - Beyond
With the introduction of the NDIS, disability service providers are faced with a lot of uncertainties. Interchange Western announces the decision to merge with Gateways Support Services who have extensive NDIS experience and a diversity of services. The decision to merge will enhance the ability of Interchange Western to delivery a diversity of services once NDIS transitions into the Western region and the merger will create a range of options for current and future NDIS participants!
